As a Community Health Program Manager and a member of the Salt Lake County Board of Health, I am deeply committed to ensuring that public health is prioritized across all sectors of our community. Everyone deserves access to comprehensive, affordable healthcare that meets their needs, regardless of their background or financial situation.

I heard the concerns raised by my neighbors and I passed legislation to help our seniors on Medicare to obtain supplement plans that fit their fixed income situations. I sponsored and supported bills that support traditional healing, mental health care for veterans, improved services for incarcerated people, and health benefits for first responders.

Public health isn’t just about healthcare—it's about creating environments where people can thrive. Whether it's housing, education, transportation, or economic development, we must consider the health impacts of policies in every sector. This means addressing social determinants of health, expanding access to mental health resources, promoting preventive care, and supporting initiatives that reduce health disparities in our communities.

Having served on the House Healthy & Human Services Committee and the Social Services Appropriation Committee, I advocate for policies that prioritize the well-being of all Utahns. By integrating health considerations into decision-making processes at every level, we can build a healthier, stronger Utah where everyone has the opportunity to live a full and healthy life.

Everyone deserves to live in a community that guarantees equal protection under the law and safety from harm, whether it be to their person, their home, or their property. Ensuring public safety is not just about enforcement—it’s about building trust, centering collaboration, and finding solutions to address the root causes of crime.

As your legislator, I responded to neighbors’ concerns and sponsored bills to protect our youth in public spaces, to improve residential living facilities in our neighborhoods, and keep kids safe in cars. I will continue to support public safety strategies that place our families’ welfare first. We need to support our law enforcement agencies and social care agenecies with the tools and resources they need to serve the community effectively while being held accountable to the highest standards of justice and equity.

Every infrastructure project and policy decision should prioritize the well-being of our communities and the health of our planet. Addressing environmental challenges proactively is essential not only for the environment but for the quality of life of all Utahns. 

As your legislator, I advocate for sustainable, responsible infrastructure. This means prioritizing the expansion of accessible, affordable, and green public transportation options that reduce pollution and traffic congestion. It also means supporting clean energy initiatives, preserving open spaces, and protecting our natural resources, like the Great Salt Lake, from further degradation.

Utahns deserve an economy that supports all families, workers, and communities. Like the majority of Utahns, I believe the state’s food sales tax should be eliminated. Families shouldn’t have to choose between putting food on the table and meeting other essential needs.

As a working parent, I understand the challenges of balancing work and family life without adequate paid parental leave. In a state that values family, I’m proud to sponsor legislation to ensure that all working families have access to paid parental leave so they can care for their newborns and themselves without sacrificing financial security. Family-friendly policies aren't just good for workers—they're good for businesses and help strengthen our economy.

Additionally, our economy thrives when we allow all Utahns to contribute their skills and talents. We need to break down barriers that prevent immigrants with verifiable trade skills, professional licenses, and educational credentials from entering the workforce.
